Adolescent Health: Partnerships in Practice
Wednesday, October 17, 2012 | 1:00-2:00 PM ET
In
celebration of SOPHE’s National
Health Education Week 2012, which focuses on promoting and establishing
healthy behaviors among our nation’s youth, the webinar will provide an
overview of the Office of Adolescent Health (OAH) and discuss the new
evidence-based initiative to reduce teen pregnancy, HIV and other sexually
transmitted diseases, and risky sexual behavior among adolescents.
Join
Evelyn M. Kappeler, Director of OAH, as she discusses how OAH works in concert
with closely aligned programs supported by other HHS
agencies. Participants will learn about the Health and Human
Services (HHS) systematic review of the evidence base on programs to reduce
teen pregnancy, a key component underlying this new
initiative. Participants will learn about how the teen pregnancy
prevention evidence-based programs are being replicated and evaluated. The
webinar will also highlight new OAH resources available for health and social
service professionals who work with young people, including a web-based
resource center for HIV/AIDS prevention among adolescents, resources for those
working with expectant and parenting teens, and a searchable database of
adolescent.
